Interlibrary Loan too Valuable a Service to Lose

I am currently retired and my wife will be retiring on July 1, 2010. We spend more time watching movies at home and cooking together, in lieu of going to movies and restaurants. We, also plan many more day trips rather than traveling vacations using guides we loan from our library. Our staff at the Long Hill Library are extremely helpful and I have gotten much enjoyment out of many books suggested by the staff. The delivery of books from other libraries in our area is an outstanding service, saving money that would be spent on gas.

Libraries are Important for Continuing Education

I am going back to college to become an RN. I have been a LPN-CLTC since 1988. I use my library computers to check all my school e-mails and obtain my assignments from the designated web sites from my professors. I also study for all of my exams there. When I need help with my research papers the library staff very willingly helps me. The library is right around the corner from my home and I would be lost without it! My family is just making ends meet, day to day, week to week! I have no cable TV, no internet services.

I grew up using the Library. I want today's kids to be able to do the same.

I use my library all the time. I have been coming to this library since I was little using the children’s programs. These programs were little at the time, but from what I’ve seen over my time here they have gotten bigger. Our town got a bigger and better library, more books, more computers, more help. With the times being so hard right now, this library does need some fixing up, but there really isn't anyone that can donate anything until people start working again. If they start charging to come here, I and many others won’t be able to come here anymore. I know that.

Helps get my mind going

The library helps me learn by reading books and when I was little my favorite book was Dora. I like the library and my favorite toy at the library was the telephone toy. Now I can read books by myself with some help. And the pictures can help me draw like the library pictures. –Catherine, Somers Point

The library helps me get my mind going. It helps me get smarter because when I read, I learn more words and what they mean. You could learn more about animals and other stuff. – Charlie, Somers Point

Learned more than anywhere else

I just like to say that I received a better education about a variety of subjects through the library system then I ever did in school. Example - finance is a subject where I taught myself an extensive amount. While taking a personal finance class in college the professor told me that he thought that I had as much knowledge as he had. I attribute that to the books I studied at the library. By the way, it was the first college class I had ever taken. William , West Deptford

Expensive Art Books!

I love the library because it lets me take out the really expensive art books out to enjoy at home. Carolina, Parsippany

The library has helped me do research on many things in life.

I am a local volunteer rep. for breast cancer and a literacy tutor of Gloucester County. The library has helped me do research on many things in life. They had National Make a Difference Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Day. I was able to do research on breast cancer and we gave out information on early detection on breast cancer. It was a success. The library also gave me a chance to be a literacy tutor for people who cannot read or write or speak English. I tutor at the East Greenwich Library and they are so nice and helpful. Books also help out too.

Computer classes help at home and work

We are careful of how and where we are spending our money. I take the computer classes, which helps me to get a better understanding of Word. These classes do not charge a fee, and this is a big help to me. The teacher is a big asset to the library and is very good at what he does. These classes have been a big help to me at my work and at home.
