How is your library helping you in these tough economic times? Tell us your story.
The town library is such a strong link to the community that it is a natural resource for a new non-profit program looking to recruit local volunteers. It is more difficult to reach working adults and new retirees these days, but the library is a prime location to find people looking to better themselves.
We launched a local senior transportation program that relies on volunteer drivers to personalize the rides as well as offer cost savings. The local libraries in North Arlington, Lyndhurst and Rutherford have all been helpful in making our program brochures available and helping to recruit volunteers.
As people who are out of work look for opportunities to use their skills and use their time constructively, they naturally turn to their library. We are happy to have joined forces for the betterment of the community.
