Trent Cole was born Xenia, Ohio on October 5, 1982. He played college football at the Cincinnati Bearcats and is presently an American football defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL).
Cole was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In his rookie season, he played in 15 games, starting seven of them. He recorded 46 tackles and five sacks. The next season, Cole improved his numbers with 62 tackles, eight sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown while playing in 16 games. During his third season with the Eagles in 2007, Cole started in all 16 games. He set career highs with 70 tackles and 12.5 sacks.1 His play during the regular season earned Cole his first Pro Bowl selection.
The Philadelphia Eagles Examiner said "Eagles defensive end Trent Cole plays every game the same way — with a singular ferocity." And it shows; in 2008 Cole led the team in hurries (22), and Tackles for Loss (TFL) (9), was second in sacks (9.0), and third with three Forced Fumbles while making 98 tackles (59 solo). He was named to the USA Today 2008 All-Joe Team for the third consecutive season, which honors the NFL players whose work doesn't necessarily garner headlines, but is integral to the success of their football team.
Cole signed a five-year contract extension on November 6, 2006 worth $26–28 million with a $12 million guarantee, which could keep him with the Eagles until 2013. Due to his offseason hobby of hunting game, Cole has been nicknamed "The Hunter."
